NEW 15 SONG ACOUSTIC ALBUM!!
05/05/10
On the evening of April 5th, 2010 I recorded 15 acoustic songs comprised of 5 originals and 10 covers. I always wanted to record myself just playing like I do when I'm at home with no studio magic or make up. It was the barest of bones of production. One lead vocal mic, one mic on my Martin acoustic guitar, and a six pack of New Castle for inspiration. I recorded it at Orange Crush Studio in Santa Ana with Scott Silletta overseeing the sound engineering aspect of things. It was a pretty chill night overall. Scott set up the mics and sat in the control booth and quietly did his thing while I sat in the studio and did mine. It was such a fun and relaxed atmosphere that you can hear Scott sometimes in the background on the beginning of some tracks reminding me that he was still rolling. All in all for the most part, every song was recorded once with on edits, just raw, simple, and pure.
I decided to include a studio version of 'Love, Don't You Forget About Me' which is the first track on this album and bookends things quite nicely in my opinion. I originally recorded this song back in early November of 2009 for my album 'Love Songs & Epilogues of the Courageous & Cowardly' but decided not to release it on that album because it just didn't seem to make sense on it. This all acoustic album and its underlying theme seemed far more suitable for it. I also video tapped the evening's performance and had my friend Tuna Tardugno edit a performance for all 15 songs.
There are literally dozen of songs that I play at home that I wanted to record and hopefully I will be able to do so for a volume II in the future. The songs that made their way to this session were by Bruce Springsteen, Sade, The Smiths, Britney Spears, The Foo Fighters, U2, and two timeless movie classics originally recorded and performed by Audrey Hepburn and Judy Garland. Finally, following the death of my grandma at the age of 99 in late March 2010, I decided to record in honor of my grandparents, their song entitled 'Noche De Ronda.'
